ABOUT GAFPA

ā€œFostering is a unique calling, often met with the response, ā€œOh, I could never do that.ā€ My reply is consistent: ā€œI believe you.ā€

Opening your home to become a foster family is undeniable a divine calling. Itā€™s a journey where the support of the Lord is essential; without it, the path would be insurmountable.

We are all tasked with caring for orphans and widows in various ways. If fostering isnā€™t your calling, perhaps your purpose lies in supporting foster families. It takes all of us, working together, to look after one another.ā€

Meet the BOARD

  • When it comes to providing a safe haven for children in need, our love has no boundaries. With a deep commitment to fostering since 2017, our journey is nothing short of extraordinary. We have opened our doors, hearts, and arms to over 25 children in our community.

We have been called to be more than foster parents; we are mentors and lifelines for children going through the toughest of times. We understand that fostering isn't just about providing shelter; it's about nurturing, guiding, and uplifting children when they need it the most.

  • TJ and I have been married for 13 years, and our journey as foster parents has led to the expansion of our family in a beautiful and diverse way. Alongside our four biological children, we have embraced three adopted children into our hearts and home.

We are passionate about our GAFPA community and strive to make a lasting impact beyond our immediate household. We hope that our family's journey can be an example of the impact that one family's love and dedication can have on countless lives. With open hearts and open arms, we have proven that family is not just defined by blood, but by the unwavering love and support we offer to those who need it most. Our beautiful family is living proof that love knows no bounds.

  • lMy husband Aaron and I started the process of becoming a foster family in 2016 and haven't looked back! We have 2 biological children and have had the honor of adopting one precious daughter so far.

We have been a resting point for over 20 kids and it has been one of the hardest but greatest joys of our lives! It has been such a blessing to love on and learn from these kids and their biological families!

I am so excited to be part of a team dedicated to supporting and encouraging foster children and the families who are in the trenches with them!

  • Originally hailing from the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, my family and I relocated to Amarillo in 2012 with our five youngest children. My husband, Jon, is deeply involved in the aeronautical engineering field, which initially brought us to this region.

In 2017, we decided to take a leap into the world of fostering, diving in wholeheartedly. Our very first placement was a sibling group of three, and we felt incredibly blessed to play a role in helping them find their forever family. Over the years, we've opened our hearts and home to 29 children, providing temporary care and support.

Throughout our fostering journey, we've experienced the joy of God's blessings as two more children have become part of our family. Fostering can undoubtedly be challenging, but the rewards are immeasurable. I have found great fulfillment in offering support to those navigating the unique trials and triumphs of foster care and adoption through foster care.

  • In 2018, I embarked on my fostering journey, dedicating the next four years to fostering eight children and ultimately adopting three of them.

While I closed my home for fostering in June 2023, my commitment to making a difference in the lives of kids in care and their families continues as I now serve on the board of an organization dedicated to this important cause.

  • I am a new addition to the GAFPA board. I am hoping that my varied skills can help this amazing organization find the support and funds needed to continue the mission to serve our community.

I am an entrepreneur and marketing professional with 25+ years of experience as a designer, tech-translator, graphic artist & media manager in both the for-profit & non-profit worlds.

I am an empty nester mom to 3 boys, now men, and have two sweet grandkids. I have the heart of a teacher and when Iā€™m not working, I aspire to be an advocate for people in need and have a passion for helping people be secure in who they are & finding their authentic self.
